Causes Of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

In your wrist, eight bones form a U-shaped channel that contains multiple tendons as well as your median nerve. This channel is known as the carpal tunnel. Your median nerve controls your feeling and sensibility on the palm side of your first three and a half fingers.

The condition known as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused by compression or irritation of this nerve as it travels through the carpal tunnel (CTS). CTS is the most frequent nerve entrapment in the general population, affecting 3-5 percent of the population. Females are two to three times more likely than males to be impacted. Carpal tunnel syndrome is most common in people between the ages of 45 and 60.
